It’s a sad day as the world has lost a hero.
Michael Collins has left us.
He was one of the three astronauts who participated in the Apollo 11 mission.
To be in his role, one has to be selfless. One has to be brave. One has to be a hero. And, indeed, Michael Collins is a hero.
While Neil Armstrong and Buzz Aldrin were exploring the surface of the moon, he was orbiting alone, waiting for Neil and Buzz’s to complete their mission and rendezvous with him so they can fly back to earth. For a moment in time, he was the ‘loneliest’ person ever.
People like Michael Collins have and will continue to inspire generations.
My 3 year old son has been telling me how much he wants to be an astronaut when he grows up and these are the contributions of the brave men who chose to go where no man has ever gone before.
I’ve been reading so much about the history of space explorations recently to understand the mindset of astronauts and cosmonauts better, so that I can help to spread their inspirational stories to others in writing.
Thank you, Michael Collins.
